Christmas Eve on the Saigon River

The Bonsai Boat at Dock

Since we were traveling during the Christmas holiday, the kids didn’t get the typical Christmas morning when they wake up and find presents under the tree. The presents for everybody this year was the trip itself, but we did want to do something special to recognize the holiday.

We were in Ho Chi Minh City on Christmas Eve and our “something special” was dinner on the Saigon River. We booked a Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise through Bonsai Cruises.

The Christmas Eve Cruise was my only experience with this company, but I can honestly say that it was so well done, I imagine the other events through Bonsai are probably pretty spectacular as well.

The Food

The Food

The food was presented beautifully and tasted just as good. There was entertainment and dancing. My daughter is pretty socially outgoing (not sure where she gets that from since she has both a mom and dad who are complete introverts). Wherever those genes came from, she’s somewhat fearless with strangers, so when she couldn’t drag Mom, Dad, or Brother out on the dance floor with her, she was completely unafraid to join the others who were already dancing.

Dancing

Bonsai emailed us ahead of time to ask the ages and genders of our children because (since it was a Christmas Eve cruise) all the kids received presents. The presents were perfect for my kids. They both really loved the gifts that Bonsai gave to them. The toys kept them busy for a large part of the dinner so that Hubby and I could enjoy another glass of wine.

This really was a special way to enjoy the evening. During the two-and-a-half weeks we traveled in Vietnam, we did some activities which were great for the adults (but not so much for the kids) or other activities that were great for the kids (but a bit ho-hum for Hubby and me). This is one of the few things we did in which I can honestly say that all four of us really had a great time.

P. S.

I don’t use any affiliate links on this blog. Everything I review here, I do because I want to give my honest opinions. Bonsai didn’t ask me to do a review and I don’t receive anything if you click on their link. My family just had a great time and I wanted to share my experience with them.
